Cradle cap is thought to be caused by overactive sebaceous glands and results in the accumulation of oily scales, which form crusts on a baby’s scalp. This condition can also occur in the elderly.

Cradle cap is relatively simple to treat. Using an oil-based solution, the crusts can be easily softened and then removed.
