Itchy skin during pregnancy is fairly common. It is often generalised and the skin appears normal.
Symptoms usually disappear on delivery.
As there is generally no visible cause of pregnancy itch, treatment should involve relieving the symptoms so as to avoid scratching, which could damage the skin.
Avoid soap, as this can dry out the skin, exacerbating the problem. Use a soap-free cleanser instead, and after bathing pat skin dry with a soft towel to avoid irritation.
